The
calendars say a whole year has passed… But maybe what we have experienced
physically and emotionally is far more than that. With all that it has added
and taken, you never know what you have lived in that one whole year
surmounts to…
The dynamic changes and the shifting dynamics in the younger years slow down
as one grows older and may be there can be a relation to this contrast while
the years rush in the latter? If time brings us all to the very same rituals,
why is all that effort, all those plans and dreams made without taking these
changes into notice? Well, change is fast, risky and young. May be that’s
why changes take place only when we are young and daring. It lessens the
changes once we aspired or realized. In our most fervent, brave and fearless
years we let the years rush by and now can we can hardly count them as they
pass by. As the years, like beads , come together from right to left in the
string of an abacus and “the things we couldn’t accomplish “ due to our
insufficiency in younger years become “ things that will never get done”
because of our increasing responsibilities, don’t these anniversaries
become more meaningful? And really how many more years are there to come and
what else to change?
If
we start off from these questions, when exactly a year finishes and whether
it has ended or not is controversial issue. By this we mean that peoples’
biological and real time calendars may not match. Right now dear society is
celebrating the ending of 365 day, the so called whole year but do they
know what exactly they are rejoicing for? Are they rejoicing for a year they
have added or they will add into their lives? Besides when there is no
guarantee for the latter…
Some of us have even just got used to the four digit number of the last year.
Don’t we remember last year’s new year’s like yesterday? Isn’t time’s hasty
course and even being wasted away as it flows, a sign of aging? Life is a
matter of time and we know it. So much builds up as it passes and a glance
at the mirror even denies the image and we find ourselves saying, “ I was
younger, wasn’t I?
What we live relates to our life. They can steal away from our life. One
moment they are at a restful watch, and then they may destroy it utterly.
The
rotating of the Earth around itself and coming together of the days for
making a year is a fixed ritual, but the Earth’s revolving around Man isn’t
whether we call all that has been lived a process or a passing year.
If
we have given in our souls to the earthly ritual, then we should forget
about the calendar and ask ourselves this question
How
old are we and which age is really living now?
