It is possible to come across written records of human kind’s history in various resources in the evolutionary and cultural sense. But when it comes to the history of “being human” we can’t be that exact. What does it mean to be human? How do we understand, evaluate and sample it?

One is already ahead in the score, when he is born to this world as a human. ..Other than being any creature that breathes, he can think, put his ideas into actions, feel and enrich these with different actions.

That’s why his power is immense.

Because he is not bound to his physical limits….

Because his mind and feelings can step in at any moment…

Because he can easily overcome a living-thing powerful than himself with his other talents…

So far, so good! But it is easy to destroy this happy picture for we are talking about a living-thing that carries the possibility of doing everything and anything in him.  It only takes a second or two for the person sitting next to you will love or kill you. We are talking about a seemingly easy fine line between doing what’s right and what’s wrong that can cause different endings. That vital fine line which  works according to thought, the essence of mind and soul… The very same thought that defies all that nature has endowed us with… The one that even leaves nature powerless at times.

Have you witnessed an animal that kills tens and even thousands of people just because they have an infectious disease? This is not likely because no such animal species which can discern this exists. Even if he identified the problem and thought about harming his own kindred, no such animal mind exists which can kill all those people in a couple of days  with his natural gifts.

But there are societies, who have the chance of earning stars and becoming part of the world nations today, which can easily kill hundreds of animals all at once, even its a bird, and call this slaughter killings, so that no harm is done to his kind. I am writing this article being a member of one.

…This power to kill doubles the score from the very beginning. Just by having the prerogatives of being “human”, mankind erases lots of living-beings from maps, even nature itself.

After concluding upon Man’s power, as an immense and a dangerous set-up, not inborn and yet becoming stronger in time, it is not surprising to find values that shape it and make him human.

For instance a teenager who gives his seat to his elders in a bus, years later when he buys his own car, can hit a passing pedestrian so as not to give way to a bus and can easily sneak off with contentment. He has got his own job, and earns his pay and has become a “man “ in his family’s eyes and even has had children so as to extend his family line and thus proven to the whole world that he is a man. Why should he darken his life this very moment because of a fervent action he has taken? This is when the essence of being human steps in. But the title to which he belongs to does not make him a “man”.

Not an ideal example as such, this incidence proves the philosopher who once said, “No other animal can harm one another as man against man.”

As all roads, aims and even dreams are lead to the material world today,  under any rock comes out the swarming little people who are trying to hold on to their future. They not only run in different directions but also clash with one another so as to stay alive. I’m sure you haven’t seen a fish commit suicide after having killed his wife and child.  It is only natural that you also haven’t met a turkey who gossips, tells lies or rapes someone else.

Again a philosopher said, “The more intelligence one has, the unhappy he is.” For this reason, man is the unhappy creature of all. But people create such materialistic and inhuman dreams that, even if they do come true, it only supports the power in the world. Reading the tabloids shows one that the mentioned power is transitory.  It is only death that wakens the rest to the reality.

We waste our faith, happiness and time while expecting the worst from others. We remember the saying more often, “a man isn’t born human but becomes one in time”.
