I cannot find pleasure in eating anymore because I’m facing with social pressure. Everybody around me is obsessed with their weights.

I enjoy eating. Time to time I was 95 kg but now I m approximately 83 kg. That’s why people tell me to be fit for my health and how much extra weight I have.

What is the ‘Ideal Weight’? I m asking because we are facing with a generation, that accepts the newspapers’ health information as if they are written by an authority.

Everyone says the same thing, ‘there is a formula between height and weight’. That’s it! We have mathematics here! Now we can easily explain children why they should learn something they won’t use in their future life! ‘Oh my child! You’ll use this information while calculating calorie, otherwise people blame you. You have to know these if you want to be fit!’

Well, who prepared this formula? Doctors, but which doctors? No name... Are all of the things that doctors say true? For years they said egg is bad for our health because it causes cholesterol but now they say ‘oh sorry we were wrong, it’s not that bad. In addition there are two types of cholesterol and one of them is good cholesterol. May be you are very careful about your health but you can still suffer from high cholesterol’.

In 2004 when I heard a well-known dietician died because of overweight, I started laughing to this strange situation.

A doctor (probably a dietician) made some calculations with the numbers and received some data. According to these data he made a classification and named them as normal and obese.

I’m wondering why 80 kg isn’t normal. Or 50 kg? No answer... Someone approved these but, they are based on what?

Well, what about the diet programs?

Eat ‘Light’ products!

Unless a cow in the world lactates ‘light’ milk, I don’t drink ‘light’ milk and don’t eat ‘light’ cheese. Do you notice oddness here? We check every product that we buy, we pay attention to expiration dates and we buy the ‘light’ products of cheese, yoghurt and milk. These are all for having a Healthy Life.. Something’s wrong here, a product’s being ‘light’ means, that product had some physical and chemical processes. As you see it’s against the Healthy and Natural Life idea.

Once I received an e-mail about Light Coke and it says ‘Don’t drink it warm’. Light drinks contain a substance called ‘aspartame’ and warm coke gives harm to human body. Have you ever read the prospectus of a sweetener tablet?

For each kilo of the body weight, more than 40 mg daily usage is harmful. For example I’m 83kg. According to this definition more than 3320 mg can give harm to me. There are 300 tablets in a box and each tablet has 18 mg Aspartame, this means 5400 mg Aspartame in total. That is to say if I consume 3 boxes in 5 days I’ll give harm to myself. It’s ok but how can I consume 200 sweeteners each day? How much tea or coffee should I drink? One more thing, the e-mail says ‘drinking the coke warm is harmful because of the Aspartame’. Well, but we all drink hot tea and coffee if the reason of the harm is warmth, we are in a serious danger.

And additives...

According to the information taken from magazines, some additives are harmful, too. Ok, it’s acceptable but I have doubts. What’s the risk of using these additives? They say the consumption of X increases the risk of Y 4 times. Isn’t it terrible? You are taking risk 4 times more. Terrible! What is the percentage of the risk? I mean what is the increase rate of the risk? It may increase from 1/100000 to 4/100000. I think it’s not that terrible, right? It’s certain that, it is statistically 4 times risky but what about in practice? For example, the substances that we know as harmful in ketchup can affect us if only we consume it 3 kg everyday through 30 days .This means 4 big ketchups in a month and everyday

Forget about it... The question is who gets benefit from this system... You find out the answer…
