"Would you like to work with me?"

when it was the first time I heard this question and accepted almost without thinking on it, I had no idea what an important mission it was and how a difficult way I was going through.
Anyway, after realising the alternative production of energy without killing the nature, I accepted this  job offer and my adventure has started.

First of all, I want to explain the sources of Renewable energy, which are being heard often so far. The Renewable Energy sources can be described as Hydraulic, Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Biogas, Wave and Biomass. Even thought the renewables have been used all over the World for a long time, Countries preferred using conventional sources to produce their energy in the lates 100 - 150 years because of the rapid industrialisation and the relative cheapness of Conventional systems especially during investment. Anyhow, after having an oil crise in 1973 and the rise of Environmental sensitivity since early 1990`s, countries started reconsideration of using renewables as an alternative of conventional systems to support the Security and sustainability of energy.

This problem has been discussed In United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in 1992, which has been organised by United Nations in Rio de Janeiro. In this Conference, developed Countries signed the Framework Convention on Climate Change and egreed to reduce their CO emmisions to 1990 values untill the year of 2000. In 1997 it has been agreed to reduce the Emmisions at least 5% less than 1990 values untill 2012. EU countries decided this reduction as 8% and they signed the "Renewable Energy White Paper" in  2001. With this principle, the ratio of Electricity produced by renewables will be 12% untill 2020.

Now let`s have a look at our nice Country. I can easiliy say that, Turkey is one of the best countries in the world, which has a really good wind potential and large available areas for the investment. It`s so sad, that this potential is not being used yet. Turkey produces more than 40% of her electricity from Natural Gas, which is being important from other Countries. In Germany, currently over 12.000MW of wind capacity is being used. In Turkey it is unfortunately so dramatic, which is about 20MW, even thought we have an economic capavity of 70.000 - 80.000 MW. So, what sholud be done?

Wind and other renewables requires high-tech. Therefor they are still relatively more expensive than other systems, which makes the produved energy more expensive in the first 6 - 7 years. But after this periodit becomes so cheap to run the facility, which makes us produce cheap electricty with our own resources. Therefor these investments must be supported by the state at, like in every other countries.
As I wrote at the beginnig, my adventure started in 1999 and when I began, the Wind capacity of Turkey was 9,7 MW.  After 5 years, only 11,5 MW of investment has been realised, but it never discouraged me.Turkey signed the UNCED in 1993 and is in the Period of Integration in EU. I have a strong belief, that Turkey will no longer use the wind for joy.

The answer my friends, is blowing in the wind.
