I’ve always found it funny when I saw that all the brightest minds of human history couldn’t find an answer the most simple questions of human history, and despised these questions with a last struggle after dwelling them after thousands of years. When I see someone who is talking about very deep and complicated issues, I always want to ask the same questions with a childish and innocent malicious intention.

- So, what is life?

- Who am I?

If you ask these questions to an intellectual, you can be sure that all you will get in reply is a dwelling look on their faces. These are questions which had been repeated and asked, which had been memorised by the common mind of humanity; nobody can ask them without having an intellectual shame. But all these dwellings, shames can not change this awful truth: Nobody knows the answers of these questions which everybody knows.

Actually, this is the main reason of the attractive despair of philosophy. Philosophers, whatever they write about, have started their journeys to find an answer to these “who am I?”, “what is life?” questions and have tried to find an explanation for these two issues about which human kind had been wondering the most. And, they have dedicated their lives to a despair.

In order to be able to solve the main mystery of life and man, to give a believable answer to this, man has written volumes of books, discussed, divided into sides, tried to reach the ultimate resort in logic, memorised questions and understood that this is impossible. When these “main” questions were left unanswered, newer and smaller questiones were discovered, and man has focused on these. Today, our ignorance about Space and our ignorance about life are on the same level.

We do not know why we were created, what the goal of our existence is, what our existence means in the big balance in the universe. But, why can’t we solve the mystery of these questions? Why don’t experience, mind, creativity bear this three word question “what is life?”? Why don’t we even know “who we are”?

Sure, it is not easy to answer these questions. But these questions which equalise mind and stupidity, experience and inexperience, knowledge and ignorance in his own unanseerableness give us the freedom to talk. We can talk about these without any fear. Playing philospher gives no harm to anybody. Appearantly, It is not possible for anyone to confirm or refuse these questions. If we are not scared and shy to say “everybody knows these questions”, these questions gives us an infinite freedom to discuss. If we are attracted to these questions when we are talking, thousands of boks are ready to serve us to tell us what has been discussed before. I think whatever you say about life and man, you can also say just the opposite.

A book which was published in USA recently was claiming that the programme of life resembles “Television”. According to the cliam of the book which was taken seriously by scientists and journalists; life was consisting channels different from eachother, just like television has channels inside and a different appearance comes up whenever we pres a button on the remote. Every image we see had its oqn unique integrity, but none of them could give life by its ownself.

Just imagine that you surf through the channel very rapidly when you are watching the television. You will se  images totally different from eactother, and maybe images which are contrary to each other. A couple making love, a woman praying, a murderer killing a man, a person protecting a child, a thief robbing a house, a hero willing to save the people… What are you going to say when you see these things back to back? What kind of a decision are you going to make about life and man?

If billions of people were just one person, what kind of a man would he be?

A strange creature who carries the emotions; goodness, badness, betrayal, murder, heroism, generosity, stinginess, love, hate, fury, pity.

If one person has small portions of all the feelings and emotions that whole humanity also has, if one person is complex and contradictory, which I believe so, then how could w edecide who that person really is?

Then man would resemble television, just like life. A species which gives you a different image each time you change the channel. A lot of art pieces tell us how man can be transformed, that a good man can become bad because of the forces by the circumstances, and that even the most evil one can have a good side within.

Maybe this is the main reason that philosophy becomes a funny children park: There is no absolute fact. This also frees our soul and thoughts. That there is no resort for our souls and thoughts to say “here we are!”, that they always wander around, that they always search for something.

The last resort that will rest the mankind’s mind and soul which wander around without finding an absolute fact to believe in, is probably religion which believes in “an absolute power”. We see it as a shelter in our most desperate, most tired, most painful times. However, even religion does not give us “the absolute”, with the existence of “devil” it creates a conflict between good and bad, heaven and hell. “The other world” of mankind whose daily world is full of conflicts also contains a lot of contradictions.

Whoever created the world, has created it based on movement. When you talk about life, it means that you also talk about movement. Even death joins this movement by transforming to life again. In a place where everything is moving, there can be no “absolute”. I think the reason that we can not understand life and man, that we can not find an answer even for the easiest question is this movement. When we freeze any moment of a movement which cretaes different images with its slighest action; we see a reality which is in contradiction with another moment; and, this doesn’t give us the whole reality. And, movement lets us free and makes us desperate at the same time. We wander around this reality like a globetrotter but we can never understand the truth beyon this movement. And we will never understand it. Because understanding this reality stops the movement. If the movement stops, the life itself demolishes. That’s why the secret will never be solved.

We will move, jump from one reality to another. We won’t recognize ourselves and life. But we’ll always try to recognize.

Simple questions are going to make fun of us. They will tell us that we are not that important, we are in contradiction with ourselves, we are changing, we will change, we won’t understand these changes, and if we catch one reality then we’ll face another one.

I support the idea of being not afraid of questions “memorised”. If you take yourself and the other things you live too seriously, ask yourself:

-What is life?

-Who am I?
