When we look through the myths and beliefs of the primitive societies, we realize the significance of the esoteric initiation. The esoteric initiation, which is “sine qua non” on the individualization of the children in society, has showed itself in most of the mythos.

Everything is okay up to this point. This esoteric initiation in these primitive societies has played an important role on the existence of the communities and their healthy performance. However within time, together with the development of the societies, this esoteric initiation has changed shape and worn a mystical cover. And that starts the breaking point.

During the development process of the societies, we see that at the beginning, to rule over a society or to dominate the mystical powers or being in contact with the other world are actually no different than each other and indeed go along together. With Eliade’s expression “in illo tempore”; the rituals to repeat the realized creation were gradually mixed up with the esoteric initiation and this basically lead to the birth of a distinct mechanism.

Apparently the co-existence of religion and esoteric beliefs through history is the outcome of this subject mechanism. In fact “esoterism” revealed in the communities as a different shape of the esoteric initiation.

With the esoteric initiation, the person has now become an individual to join and be a part of the community; and through esoteric thinking he/she has been accepted as a part of another dimension, which once existed in the sacred time and place. Consequently while the vital system of the healthy society has become more sublime, the individuals attending to the sacred community, in fact gave way to the resolution of that healthy society.

Lets look into this issue more closely.

Modern psychoanalysis is originally advising us the clues. The escape of the mentality that do not want to leave the images of childhood as well as the safe embrace of a mother may actually tend to turn towards to the mysticism at the maternity period. Not taking this responsibility through esoteric initiation may lead slipping into a more fairy world or get consoled with various titles.

Esoteric thinking genuinely existed as a vehicle for self-improvement of the individual and for finding out the divinity. However in some doctrines, this belief has turned out to be an organization, which avoided differentiation within the society and from individualization. Esoteric initiation depending on individualization requires forceful examinations and ceremonies and as its reward the person becomes an individual of the society. Considering that these exams and ceremonies are mostly applied to the males, it helps the person to acquire his male characteristics. However in some disciplines with regards to the esoteric initiations, it presents the longed divinity other than individualization, but this is a transition to divinity without being individualized. In other words, we can say that this is a misleading condition far from being a healthy structure. Within this frame, the fake power that the mysticism provides, disregards the individualization; results in the person’s receding into a distance from the society and enhances his negligence of the social responsibility for a higher ideal.

There are many examples in history for this case. Like Socrates gets scolded by his wife because of neglecting some simple duties after he has uttered the heavenly words.

Even though these societies do not govern the role as a manager, they succeed the role as to direct the society. The examples in history exist in ancient Egypt.

So we can say that the passion for mysticism, the orientation to esoteric initiation has actually become more sublime, but we can comment that this situation prevents the improvement of the individual. This is just like desiring to be an engineer without studying mathematics in high school.

Of course not all of the esoteric doctrines should be perceived like that. There are also other doctrines, which puts the self-improvement in the first place and defends the idea that divinity is impossible without being individualized.

Tarot cards give you very nice lessons in this respect. Transition from Lunatic to Sorcerer is basically stepping into that road. With the lovers card, the relation with the mother comes to an end. Like Perceval’s mother dies when her Perceval sets our on a journey. The last card is the World. There is no card for God.

After setting out the outlines for esoterism in the old societies, now we can return back to our day.

Esoteric doctrines are still preserving their presence. When we look at the past from this day, from the nearest past to the farthest, we see that there are societies inevitably meddling with politics. Whereas there are also institutions that preserved themselves, still updated and providing self-improvement... Mysticism has always been a point of interest. Alchemists, sorcerers, cabbalists have become directing factors in the society in every regard. They even gave way to the birth of various trends, however these mystical trends are being get used of in these orientations.

19th century has witnessed the birth of spiritualism and mediumic sessions have become popular in this period. Even though we see the examples in history previously, the “spiritual interaction” has come out in this period. As for the 20th century, it has become a stage for very interesting developments and almost every person met in the street are delivering messages  from spiritual beings.

The messages received within the framework of New Age doctrines are generally about the issues like upcoming new age, love, light, etc.; but at the same time secretly concerns with politics underneath and make statements which may even totally stop and redirect the personal improvement.

Some of them use the mythological names and symbols. For instance, A Poseidon saying “ I greet the soul with you” can give messages on water and can put some odd notes between these sayings.

Of course, if you like watching DVDs and if you like to hear a Poseidon saying; “Hello dear beings. I AM POSEIDON. I am speaking on behalf of “12s Council” who are charged for the restoration of the WATER MATRIX of the World Planet. – This is also called LOVE MATRIX- We would like to make some explanations regarding the events taking place at the moment as a part of the Heavenly Plan for the World”, things are different. However someone who has a little knowledge of mythology would just laugh at this speech. When I was a kid, Haluk Egemen Sarıkaya published messages from personalities like space commanders Athena, Avalon and kept waiting for their full landing.

On the other hand, some others keep giving messages concerning “love” issues under strange nicknames. I have learned one thing as a person who read some Erich Fromm on my teen ages. Love is not easy and the most important thing is that it is not possible to love someone else without loving yourself. If I say, “I love everybody unconditionally”, no one would believe me since I smoke a packet of cigarette everyday. However things going on under the cover of “unconditional love” speeches, embracing universe and beings etc., are unusual.

Lets look into some messages;
 

One of the most interesting of these is the person called Tobias. These messages are so integrated with politics that the families wounded by 9/11 are expressing their regret for attending those sessions. Or these beings are talking about Muses’ and Mohammed’s presence, identifying themselves with them and describing  their service for the Messiah energy, etc.; but if you carefully look into the messages, they are actually involving Christian issues and even do have missionary aims. When pointing out Christianity, it is not real Christianity but we have to understand the excessive part of evangelism. Even Kryon is using the Jewish mysticism (like Merkabah). This Tobias is trying to divert the half Christians as well by saying “You are the ones initiating the churches (religious establishments) all over the world. Your conflicted feelings these days to those organizations are not that surprising! But you are the ones who pioneered these religious establishments. These were temples. These were the temples where the Messiah conscience will start enlarging and will meet other people. Dear Shaumbra, for 2000 years you have swifted from one life to another by learning how to bring this energy and providing necessary energy and the field for this spreading and enlargement. Remembering our previous talk with you, you know that this is now the time where this energy will come out”. 

Or an archangel called Michail whom I guess received “Green Card” is supporting Bush’s Middle east politics by saying “ Can you raise over this big agitation and media madness and move towards to your essentials that holds your real self being? And with your peaceful eyes, through this Love-Light Center, can you spread the Creator’s naive love to the United States and to the World? Indeed this is an awakening call for United States residents. The hatred and chaos going on in the Middle east and other parts of the world is gradually spreading to the whole world like a dark cloud and nowhere is exempt from that and will not be. We say that yes, protect your country, your freedom and try to stop the ones who surrender hatred and ruin”. (May be he would support Bush at the elections as well.) Definitely I am presenting the comedy of pronouncing the name of archangel Michail in such a concept  for your comments. (When I first criticized this, I faced the reaction of people who believe that I have teased with their religion. Their calling this a religion is showing how serious the case is.)

The examples can be increased. From Kryon who makes Christian propagandas to holy beings who do not have simple mythological knowledge.

If we return back to our main subject and summarize, we can say that these kind of messages other than their thesis on providing self improvement, are actually preventing the self improvement and playing a role as directing to different ideologies by subliming, like deviating esoteric belief of the old communities even by expecting help from “outside”, spiritual beings, aliens, etc.

It can be stated that these messages depending on mostly Christianity and using Christian terminology are at the same time performing a different kind of evangelist missionarism through the “New Age human Christ” or “New Age Messiah” figures.

On the other hand “indigo children” and “crystal children” who are newly growing and reserving the collected intelligence of the New Age genetically within themselves, were the outcome of the diversions on their progress that should be taken care of seriously. And that the “indigo children” and “crystal children” concepts should be handled carefully. 

Naturally what we have stated above are not for to judge or slander all these kinds of messages. Within these, there are the ones that reflect their inner voice and that are frank.

According to me, there is only one reality at our present age; and that is to learn what we should have to learn in this world now and to dwell on our self-improvement and individualization. Love for others can only be acquired by loving ourselves.

How much do we love ourselves? How much do we pay attention to our health care? How is our family and business lives? How about our sexual world? How is our cigarette habit? Without asking such questions to ourselves; behaving with a fake sublimity, expecting benefits from other worlds, to what extend these would be useful for us?

The age we are living in at the moment is an age that will shape the world’s whole future and every kind of play is being played. I do not believe that it would be a good construction to grasp spiritualism without being aware of this truth and our own individual self, especially after many developments presented to us by psychoanalysis.

The problem is not to believe these spiritual messages or not; especially if we find the adjective “mystic” appropriate for ourselves.                           

The most important consequence depending on these descriptions is that it is dangerous to walk in the roads of some esoteric-occult ways without solving our subconscious obsessions and blocks. The “Ancient doctrines” have been making studies on subconscious through definite ways and with full “devotion”. However in our days, with the outcome of esoteric knowledge and establishment of collecting systems, it is now thought that everybody can enter this path by way of a simple “initiation”. In other words, the ways to enter has become cheaper and easier. It has now become possible to “get purified from negative energies” by paying to someone who found a “system” without making any studies or researches; or get attuned through internet by credit card payment. The inner cognizance and evolution have now lost their meanings, registered information channels have started to provide everything. Nowadays angels, aliens began to pop out everywhere and they charged themselves the duty of revealing messages. At this point, it becomes essential to think on these symbols and comprehend which of these is occult and which is the play of the subconscious.

If we put ourselves apart from the progresses in psychology, I am afraid we start sourcing spiritual, divine lessons from every dream and vision we see and had to declare our own avatar being. The disciples are already there and hanging around. Therefore it is impossible for the person who declares himself/herself “mystic” not to get involved in these progresses.

Another important issue is that -against the opposition of the traditionalists- it is obvious that the methods of “Ancient Doctrines” are no longer applicable. If we assume the one reaching to a point by only applying these methods, it is inevitable that there will only be a few “intellectuals” not exceeding the number of fingers of a hand. Under the light of these explanations, the esoteric methods (not the doctrines) have to be questioned.

That is Mysticism requires the control of the information of their own period. It should have a meaning to be here in this time. I believe that if it were only spiritualism, it would not have a meaning to exist in here.

It is not possible to explain many things in a very short essay, but it is important to get an idea of questioning. It is important to be aware of the games being played.

We still could not touch many New Age doctrines. Of course everybody is free to believe in whatever they like and also pay for.
